A Welcome From
At Leicester Islamic Academy we are excited to introduce our Key Stage 1 (KS1) classes, where children aged 5 to 7 embark on their journey of learning and discovery. KS1 is made up of 2 classes per year group. Pathfinders and Navigators are our Year 1 classes. Inventors and Developers are our Year 2 classes.
Our KS1 curriculum is designed to foster a love of learning through a variety of engaging, hands-on experiences. We focus on a smooth and effective transition from Reception to Year 1 and then Year 2. Our main aim is building essential skills in Phonics, Maths and creativity, while encouraging social and emotional development.
In KS1, children will be supported by experienced, caring teachers and support staff who ensure each child receives the attention they need to thrive. We believe in creating a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to ask questions, explore new ideas, and develop the confidence to become independent learners.
We look forward to working closely with parents and carers to ensure every child achieves their learning goals. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our KS1 classes, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Hear from our KS1
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for taking care of (CHILD) these past two years. She has had a truly brilliant time with you all. I have loved hearing about everything she gets up to and my favourite part is coming in to collect her and seeing how happy she is. We are looking forward to new adventures, but Buttsbury Pre-School will always hold a special place in my heart!

I wanted to say a huge thank you to you and the team for all your help and support with (CHILD). I wouldn't have been able to manage it without you! You have been pivotal in her development, and I can't believe how much progress has been made.

Thank you for my lovely play area which I love and the help you give me with my work. My favourite game is playing with the dinosaurs. I love my teachers because they are funny. Thank you for looking after me!
Buttsbury Bear 2024
Thank you for having me. Thank you for playing with me. Thank you for my snacks. I think my teachers are funny when they pull funny faces. All my teachers are kind and I will miss them. Thank you for the toys you gave me on party week!

Children are extremely driven and very eager to join in activities inside and outside. They share and cooperate exceptionally well. Children demonstrate very high levels of self-control. They persevere if they encounter difficulties and are confident to work independently or as part of a team to find solutions to problems.
Outstanding Ofsted Report 2019
There is a targeted approach towards all children's learning, which means they receive exceptional support to reach their full potential. All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those who receive additional funding, make excellent progress in relation to their starting points.
Outstanding Ofsted Report 2019
Children have excellent daily opportunities to play outdoors and to be physically active. They rapidly embed skills such as coordination and balance as they negotiate large equipment. Children develop an astute awareness of their own abilities as they make the most of these marvellous opportunities. They thoroughly enjoy taking part in sensory activities in the garden
