    Safeguarding at Leicester Islamic Academy

At Leicester Islamic Academy, we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils. We recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and every member of our community—staff, governors, volunteers, and visitors—has an important role to play in keeping our pupils safe.

Our approach is always child-centred: we consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of each child. We maintain a culture of vigilance throughout the school and take a whole-school approach to safeguarding, ensuring our policies and practice are robust and regularly reviewed.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children means:

    • Protecting children from maltreatment
    • Preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
    • Ensuring children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
    • Taking action to enable all children to have the best possible outcomes

    Our commitment:

    • We identify safeguarding concerns early and take prompt action to provide support.
    • We promote the welfare of all children, taking into account their lived experiences.
    • We work closely with families and external agencies to ensure our pupils’ safety and wellbeing.
    • We prevent concerns from escalating by acting swiftly and effectively.
