    E-Safety

At Leicester Islamic Academy, we know how exciting the internet can be for learning, playing, and staying connected. But we also understand how vital it is to use it safely and responsibly.

We teach our children to be SMART online:

    • S – Stay Safe: Keep your personal information private. Don’t share your full name, address, school, or passwords.
    • M – Meet: Never agree to meet someone you only know online without checking with a trusted adult.
    • A – Accepting: Be careful when opening emails, messages, or files from people you don’t know — they could be unsafe.
    • R – Reliable: Not everything you see or read online is true. Always check with an adult if you're unsure.
    • T – Tell: If anything online makes you feel uncomfortable or worried, tell a trusted adult straight away.

How do we educate our children to remain safe online?

We hold regular e-safety assemblies and deliver lessons throughout the school year. These sessions help our pupils learn about the risks they may face online, how to make safe choices, and what to do if something goes wrong. By discussing real-life scenarios and age-appropriate topics, we ensure that all children understand how to be respectful, responsible, and safe digital citizens. Top of Form

Each year, Leicester Islamic Academy proudly takes part in Safer Internet Day, a global event that promotes the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. On this special day, our pupils take part in engaging activities, assemblies, and class discussions focused on key e-safety themes such as kindness online, privacy, and making responsible choices. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reinforce the importance of respectful and safe behaviour online, while encouraging pupils to be responsible digital citizens every day.

How do we educate our parents to remain safe online?

At Leicester Islamic Academy, we understand that supporting children’s online safety is a shared responsibility between school and home. To help parents feel confident and informed, we regularly invite expert visitors and organisations to deliver workshops and talks on e-safety and digital wellbeing. These sessions provide practical advice on how to keep children safe on social media, gaming platforms, and other online spaces. By working together, we can ensure that our children grow up with the knowledge and guidance they need to use technology safely and responsibly.

To support families in keeping children safe online, we have hosted E-Safety Coffee Mornings. These relaxed, friendly sessions give parents the chance to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while learning more about online safety, current digital trends, and how to guide children in the safe use of technology.

By combining modern e-safety principles with our Islamic teachings, we guide our children to be thoughtful, respectful, and responsible digital citizens who reflect the best of our faith both online and offline.
